CREATING MOTION BLUR TO TEXT OR IMAGES

Here is a random quick tip if anyone is interested in it.

This was brought up by a few managers who asked about creating motion blur on text or images and asked if our Photogs, MMJ’s, and Trans Ops knew of this technique. I am aware that a few of you know but I would like to share this tip with anyone that would be interested.

Below is a video with text with no motion blur applied.

Now here is the same video with text and with motion blur applied to the text.

How do you achieve this?

In premiere create a text layer and select it on the timeline.

Now go to the “Effects” panel and in the search bar type “Transform”. Drag that onto your text or image file.

You will do all of your keyframing (Animating) here on the “Transform” option on the “Effects Control” panel.  The closer the keyframes are the more motion you will see. Afterwards deselect the option box in transform that says, “Use Composition Shutter Angle” . Then change the option that says, “Shutter Angle” to 180.00. Then you're done and you should see smooth motion blur on the text or image file you have on top of the video.

To make your life easier save this into a preset and just put that preset onto future projects that have text or images. You can save it to a preset by going to the “transform” effect that’s already on your text layer and right-clicking on it. Select save and now it skips the extra steps when you want to do this again. Please know you can also apply this effect on your Doodly file as well.

Hope this helps and I’ll try to send out more tips to you all in the future.

Be safe and have fun out there.

Thanks,
